Our Mission
The Local Affairs Committee of the Fulton County Farm Bureau® is committed to actively engaging with and addressing issues that directly impact our members and the broader community. We recognize the importance of local initiatives and their effects on our lives, and we strive to be a proactive voice in these matters.
FCFB has members serving on boards and committees that impact Fulton County residents. These include the Fulton County Emergency Telephone System Board (911 Board), the Fulton County Ambulance Board, the Graham Hospital Board of Trustees, the Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development, the Fulton County Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, and the Illinois Waterway Ports Commission.
Areas of Focus
Our committee is involved in a wide range of local affairs, including but not limited to:
- Taxes: Monitoring and responding to tax-related issues that affect our members.
- Roads and Infrastructure: Advocating for the maintenance and improvement of local transportation networks.
- Broadband Connectivity: Ensuring access to reliable and fast internet, crucial for modern agriculture and community well-being.
- Zoning and Planning: Participating in discussions and decisions regarding land use, development, and community planning.
- Landfills and Environmental Concerns: Addressing issues related to landfills, waste management, and environmental sustainability.
- Emerging Local Concerns: Staying vigilant and responsive to any new local issues that may arise.
Our Approach
The Local Affairs Committee works diligently to:

- Facilitate Dialogue: Encouraging open discussions among members, local authorities, and the community.
- Advocate for Members: Representing the interests of our members in local government and public forums.
- Inform and Educate: Providing timely updates and information to our members about local issues and their implications.
